Trip to my house at lake Balaton in Hungary, Csopak

Balaton is not yet your typical dream getaway. Still some infrastructure missing (unless you have your own house of course). What's great is that you can have great food, great wines, beautiful sceneries and very nice people. I speak the language, but even for other foreigners I hear good things only.
One time I went to the Internet Cafe and some guy said hello to me, I quickly responded 'szia' which means 'hello' in Hungarian. I worked for about 25 minutes and took off again, saying 'szia' again, which also means 'Good Bye'. Anyhow, the next time I got back I saw this guy again and I wished him a good day. He nodded friendly and after about 10 minutes the waitress brought me some Whiskey from him. Nice, I thought and enjoyed my drink.
I know what you are thinking... but this guy wasn't gay. He was simply nice. He told me that he enjoys friendly people and I shouldn't take it the wrong way. I was there with my girl friend the first time and he asked me about her.
The other interesting experience was the food. Typically, wherever you go the food's quality is strongly related to the price. This trip showed me the opposite. The more it cost, the worse it was. The funny thing was that at the most expensive restaurant I went to, my girl friend's kid ordered some Coke and then lady responded, 'sorry, but we are a real restaurant, we don't carry Coke'. This was funny I thought. The place was beautiful, with a view over the entire lake and vinyards in front of us. I love the place for its beautiful atmosphere and the wine you get there, but the food was only average.
I ate my best food at the cantine:) so weird, but they really had great food!
The other place that was nice was in Veszprem, but instead of eating my friend goat brains, which were out, I had to go with the tripes curry, which was also awesome (yeah, I like my spare parts:))
Furthermore, the city of Veszprem is worth mentioning. They have a stunning old town, very very beautiful with a university, a castle, beautiful churches and simply many awesome sights when you stroll around in the city. They also had some oldtimer festival when we were there. Quite fun indeed, with a ton of Russian and American cars from the 30ies-70ies.
Anyhow, this trip was very enjoyable. Check out my pics to see more:)

Szentendre Sights
Furthermore, the Margit Kovács Museum displaying ceramic works, the Art Mill, the Serbian Orthodox Museum, the Doll Museum – and the list could go on – are all worth visiting. You also have to see the Greek-Orthodox Blagovestenska church, built in Baroque-Rococo style, which is the most renowned of the nine churches in Szentendre. The House of Prisoner Ráby cannot be missed either, a Baroque styled house whose once tenant and his story were the inspiration for the great Hungarian writer Mór Jókai to write his famous novel Rab Ráby on. The list of Szentendre Sights has still not come... Read more »
