New Delhi, the capital of India, is the place where offices of the government of India andthe Government of the National Capital Territory of India (New Delhi to be precise) are located. New Delhi is an important tourist attraction and very important in terms of economy for India. New Delhi was a union territory till 1991 but after the amendment of constitution in 1991, New Delhi became a National Capital Territory of India.

One should be cautious in case of many local tourist offices who claim to be connected with the government but actually, they aren’t. Many of these offices might give you the best service but you as a tourist must know that these people aren’t linked to the government. You can talk to the Delhi Police at the emergency number 100 and we assure you that for foreign tourists they are quick to reply.
Lal Qila (The Red Fort) is the most famous tourist attraction of New Delhi and one should be ready to stand in lengthy queues before they get the chance to enter the Red Fort. Shah Jahan, the Mughal Emperor who was also responsible for building Taj Mahal of Agra, was the one who built the Red Fort.
Humayun's Tomb which is situated in South Delhi, in the proximity of Old Delhi Railway Station, happens to be one of the three sites within Delhi that are listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Qutub Complex, which is located in Mehrauli of South Delhi, is another UNESCO World Heritage site. Qutub Complex houses many historical monuments and is one of the most famous tourist spots for foreign as well as for Indians.
Other important sights in New Delhi are: Rajpath, Rajghat, Lodhi Estate, Nehru House, India Gate, Parliament House, Nehru Park, Lodhi Garden, International Doll's Museum, India Habitat Center, and the National Museum.
