Lanzhou History, China
Lanzhou is one of the cities in China that has a long and relevant history. Lanzhou is a city that is filled of great opportunities and dynamism and home of outstanding people also. The city is the capital of the province of Gansu. The five districts of Lanzhou are the Chengguan, Qilihe, Anning, Xigu, and Honggu. The beautiful city is characterized by flowing rivers and beautiful mountains.
During 81 BC, Lanzhou became the center of the Jincheng county and the Jincheng commandery on the later part during the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). The name of Jincheng was changed into Yunwu. The city was being called as the Golden City and it became the main linkage to the ancient Northern Silk Road and a relevant historic Yellow River passage site on the time of the first millennium BC.
The Great Wall of China was lengthened going to Yumen for the protection of the city. When the Han Dynasty ended, the city happens to be the capital of the series of tribal state. The province of Gansu became the Buddhist study center in 5th to 11th century and up to this day. The city became the capital of the Earlier Liang’s independent state during the 4th century.
The commandery of Jincheng was reestablished by the North Wei dynasty (386-534) and renamed the county Zicheng. For the first time, the city became the settle of Lanzhou region during the Sui Dynasty from 581-618 and maintains the name during the Tang Dynasty from 618-907. The Tibetan runs the city in 763 and in 843 was regained by the Tang. During 11th-13th century, the city fell into the western Xia Dynasty and was regained by the Song Dynasty in 1041. Reestablishing of the Lanzhou’s name and renaming of the Lanzhuan was made.
Lanzhou was controlled by the Jin Dynasty after 1127 and feel into the Mongols in 1235. During the Ming Dynasty, the region was relegated to a county and positioned under the Lintao’s government, a superior region. Lanzhou became a political unit in 1477. Gansu became the capital of Lanzhou when it became a distinct province during 1666. Under the Gansu Muslims in 1864 to 1875, the city was terribly mutilated. In 1920s and 1930s, the city was under the Soviet influence. The city experienced Sino Japanese War in 1937-1945.
