Sights to see in Jacksonville, North Carolina While there are many Jacksonville’s in the United States, Jacksonville in North Carolina is a great city to see. It is the youngest city in the country, with an average age of just twenty three. This is because of the large number of military personnel in this city. It is fondly known as “J-action-ville” or “J-ville”. Jacksonville sights are popular attractions. It is neighbored by the great touristic spots like Orange Park, Deppe, Durhma, Savannah, Catherine Lake and Belgrade etc. Savannah Nightlife, Durham nightlife and Raleigh Sights are very popular among locals and tourists.
Although this town is not exactly a tourist haven, it is close to some great sights, including Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base and the city of Wilmington.
Jacksonville Sights: Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base
Known as the “Home of Expeditionary Forces in Readiness”, this military base is a wonderful place to visit, as it is a completely self contained city. With over seven thousand buildings, and over five hundred miles of roads, this is a massive place. It also has fifty miles of railroad tracks, fifty four fire ranges, and ten fire stations. Built over two hundred and fifty acres, it includes fourteen miles of beach along the Atlantic for amphibious training exercises.
This military base is the base for the entire city, as most of the city’s economy is based on the over one hundred and fifty thousand people that live on and around the base. While it is not easy to get a permit to visit the base, you can do so if you know someone who is in the military. The base has three public schools, its own golf courses, a naval hospital, movie theatres and malls. It also has its own residential neighborhoods for the military personnel.
Jacksonville Sights: Coastal Plains Raceway Park
It includes a long racing strip and a paved track. Motor racings and a large number of events are held here throughout the year. The racing track is crowded with sports enthusiastic throughout the year. It has been regarded as one of the most popular sporting place in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville Sights: A trip to Wilmington, North Carolina If you want to do something outside town, then take a short trip to Wilmington, North Carolina. It is also a short drive from here to Myrtle Beach and Charlotte.
Other things to see in Wilmington include the Bellamy Museum, the Burgwin-Wright House, the EUE Screen Gems Studio and the Burchetta Glassblowing Studio and Gallery.
One of the greatest things about Wilmington is that as it is the third largest film and TV production site in the country, you will see many stars and film crews here. Shows like Dawson Creek, One Tree Hill and movies like The Crow and Blue Velvet were filmed here.

The museum of Marine in Jacksonville is one of the most popular attractions. It is famous for the antiques and historical monuments. The museum shows the symbols of World War II including body armor, War Dogs, Reserve Marines, Helicopter assault and Black Marines. The museum is very popular among locals and tourists.
