Daegu Travel Guide, South Korea

The originally documented name of Daegu is Daegu Metropolitan City but it is referred to as Daegu in short by the locals in their day to day language. Daegu holds the fourth place for most populated cities of South Korea and its name comes after the cities of Seoul, the Busan City, and Incheon. Although Daegu is not a part of Gyeongsangbuk - do province, it is called as the capital of this province. In many countries the city government comes under the state government and then the state government under the central government but here in South Korea each cities government directly comes under the control of central government.

The city of Daegu resides on a basin which is covered by mountains from every possible side. From the northern side Palgongsan mountain covers the city, from the southern side the Biseulsan Mountain covers the city, from the western side Gayasan Mountains covers the city, and a chain of small mountains covers the city of Daegu from the eastern side. The major river for this city is Geumho which flows alongside the northern and the eastern edges of this city and finally it gets emptied into River Nakdong which lies on the western side of the city.

The lowest ever temperature that was recorded in this city was -20 degree Celsius and the highest ever recorded in the history of Daegu was 40 degree Celsius. The coldest month for the city of Daegu is January while the hottest of all the months for this city is August. The average temperature for the coldest month is around - 0.07 degree Celsius while that for the hottest month is around 26 degree Celsius.

The government of Daegu was highly inspired from the Milan City of Italy and it tried its best to develop the economy of Daegu as per the methods which were being implemented into the city of Milan. The textile business and the clothing business started to jump up after the efforts of the local government and today these two are one of the most important businesses for the locals of Daegu. These efforts to re-invent the city of Daegu as per the plans of Milan City were taken somewhere in the year 1990.

Daegu is a very important city for South Korea in terms of economy as well as in terms of tourism industry and must be visited if you ever plan to visit South Korea.
