Taguig Sights and Landmarks Guide, Philippines
For an up and coming city there is certainly so much to see and do on your visit to Taguig. The sights of Taguig are a mixture of historical and modern attractions that highlight the city's rich past and a future that is burning bright. With an eye on the future, this city can certainly amaze and charm its visitors.
Historical Landmarks
Most of the city’s important historical landmarks are in the area of Poblacion where you will find Taguig’s City Hall which is in itself an artifact built in 1959. In the same area is the Museo de Santa Ana which is home to the city’s artifacts that celebrate its history since 1857. Next to the museum is the church of the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Anne which is one of the Philippine’s oldest churches built in 1587. Another interesting church to check out is the Dambanang Kawayan which is a structure made entirely of pure native bamboo.
The Veteran’s Museum is another one of Taguig’s historic sites that features war stories as interpreted by life-sized montages and retold by different art forms combined with advanced technology. This museum can be found in the Upper Taguig area.
In the area of Fort Bonifacio is the Libingan ng mga Bayani or the Cemetery of the Heroes which is the final resting place of 33,520 Filipinos who laid their lives for the country during the Second World War. Dignitaries and personnel of the Philippine military from privates to generals are also buried here.
Modern Attractions
If you want a place for a good stroll, some good shopping, hang out with friends or time out with the kids, the Bonifacio High Street in Fort Bonifacio is the best place to do all that. This promenade type mall is right next to the upscale residences of Serendra that features fashionable brands, quaint coffee shops, great restaurants and a large activity park right at the center of it all.
Nearby is the Market!, which is a bargain hunter’s haven that offers the discerning shopper a wide range of products and services right within the clean and secure confines of a festive mall. Truly, something you can’t miss checking out.
Right across the Bonifacio High Street is the Fort Strip which is another open area lifestyle and entertainment complex that provides its neighboring offices and visitors of the area with a fitness gym, spa establishments, trendy clubs, hip bars and great restaurants. Visiting this strip is definitely all worth it.
Coming Soon
There are still a lot of establishments around the city that are soon to rise. One of them is the area of the Lakeshore District which is soon to be the next best tourist and lifestyle destination of Metro Manila. In this area, golf courses and residences will soon makes their debut. Aside from these, commercial establishments including fishing ports, boardwalks, ferry terminals and other water sports facilities are all part of the vision of the Lakeshore District.
