Makati Nightlife, Philippines
The Sounds of Makati
There’s nothing as breathtaking as the view of the Makati skyline at night especially from afar when the skyscrapers are all lit up and show up like groups of stars in the night sky. Just when you thought the day has ended, the city continues to buzz even as the sun starts to set. Makati is a haven of bars, clubs and restaurants that provide entertainment until the early hours. Makati has a night life that truly won’t disappoint.
One-Stop Destinations
The Ayala Center at the heart of the city is a one-stop shopping and dining haven that houses two of the most popular malls in Metro Manila, which are the Glorietta and Greenbelt malls. These malls aren’t just for the shopaholic. These shopping complexes can satisfy any lifestyle and leisure needs, including an exciting nightlife.
If you happen to be in Glorietta some of the best night spots to visit are the Rockcandy Bar for a night of serious dancing or you can head to Streetlife which houses the Hard Rock and Fashion Cafes, among other great entertainment establishments, for a night of live music or a round of drinks with friends. A tourist favorite is the Dreambar which is right across the Glorietta Mall.
The Greenbelt Mall is considered the Philippine’s first premier lifestyle center. It’s the place to be for a taste of cosmopolitan culture while you’re in the country. Greenbelt comes alive at night especially if you find yourself in Greenbelt 2 where all the popular bars are lined up and it’s up to you to choose your own adventure. Whether it’s Spicy Fingers, Temple Bar, Nuvo, Masas or Magnum you go for, you’re sure to enjoy a unique experience that each establishment offers.
Taking to the Streets
The streets of Makati are peppered with bars, clubs and restaurants especially if you know which streets to check out. Two of the most popular destinations for a night out of fun and adventure are Makati Avenue and Jupiter Street.
The whole strip of Makati Avenue is glittered with entertainment establishments that specialize in world cuisines and different ambience that provide a wide range of options for the partygoer. You can start your barhopping experience at the truly hip Wasabi Bar and Restaurant or check out who’s playing at the equally trendy A-Venue Hall. But if you like a more intimate and relaxing ambience there is the Tiananmen Bar for some drinks and conversation. For a place to hang out ala Britannia check out the London Underground or La Grange for a French dining experience.
Nearby is Jupiter Street which is every bit as glittery as Makati Avenue. One of the trendier spots you can dance the night away in this area is the Fiamma Bar but if you’re into live bands and some comedy, check out Heckle and Jeckle which offers different kinds of entertainment almost every week. Other recommended hotspots worthy of your time are Chaquico’s, IO Family KTV and Strumm’s. Don’t worry if you can’t visit all of them, you can always come back.
