Trieste Sights and Landmarks Guide, Italy
The city of Trieste is more than a port city; as this is a good place to explore the many castles and caves unique in northern Italy. So the visitors and the tourists are required to be ready and to be equipped with the right tools and outfit in order to explore what the castles and the caves can offer.
The first castle to check out is the Castle of Miramare. The construction of this castle was started in 1856 and ended in 1860 and this was the project of Carl Junker. The views inside and within the area of the castle will surely appeal to visitors who like nature and the environment. The castle offers good-looking gardens and these gardens are of outstanding beauty. A variety of trees is planted in the area and the choice of trees was based on the orders of Maximilian.
The castle is known for its many wonderful gardens. Visitors should check out the two ponds in the gardens and the first pond that can be seen in the area is known for the swans and the lotus powers.
You could also check out Castelletto in the area which houses the bronze statue of Maximilian and there will also be that small chapel in the area. This chapel is the place where the cross made from the remains of the ‘Novara’ is kept. The ‘Novara’ was actually the flagship in which Maximilian set sail to become the Emperor of Mexico.
Playing second to this castle is the Castle of San Giusto. This castle was designed on the site of the previous castle and the castle that you can see now was built for two centuries. This castle has a number of rooms and the rooms inside the castle include Sala Caprin.
Also worth checking out if you are in the area is the museum and this museum displays many historical artifacts. These artifacts that can be seen in the museum are often used in exhibitions. It is suggested that visitors and tourists should take a walk in the area near the castle to catch a good glimpse of the city from afar. The location is ideal to see part of the hills and sea.
The churches of the city are worth checking as well and some of the churches worth visiting are the Cathedral of San Giusto and the Basilica of San Silvestro.
