The city of Surakarta (also called as Solo in short) happens to be a city located in the country of Indonesia. The city of Surakarta is located somewhere in the Central Java region. The city of Surakarta is situated around 65 kilometers away from the city of Yogyakarta and around 100 kilometers from the city of Semarang. The longest river of Java is Bengawan Solo River and this is the water body that is situated in the proximity of this city. The name of this city was also used in a famous song during the 1940s which became a chart buster in almost every Asian country. The song was Bengawan Solo and was composed by Gesang Martohartono.
The city of Surakarta has been divided into 5 major districts namely Jebres, Banjarsari, Serengan, Pasar Kliwon, and Laweyan. This division makes the administration of the city a very easy job for the local government of this city.
The city of Surakarta has also been gifted with two huge markets that attract heavy number of tourists as well as locals so as to buy items as per their requirements. You will be surprised to see the quality of items in these markets which are no less than those available in other branded markets. The two markets are Paser Gade and Pasar Klewer.
