Bandar Lampung Nightlife, Indonesia

Bandar Lampung is the capital city of the Lampung province in Indonesia. The city is not a sought-after destination for tourists in itself, but is always used as a starting point of tours into the island.

Along the beaches

The nightlife of a city depends on the outgoing nature of its residents or a large tourist population. It is generally restricted to larger cities and Bandar Lampung has yet to graduate into the category of a nightlife hotspot. A network has yet to develop that will offer night sports, dance clubs, independent bars and pubs. Those looking for nightlife tend to drive to neighboring cities looking for entertainment and fun. The other major city of the Lampung province is Metro, which offers similar limited nightlife entertainment opportunities. It is situated 19 km south while on a journey to Bakauheni. Yet another breathtaking sandy beach is Merak Balantung, which is good for swimming. Private entertainment in the port area is not unheard of and family gatherings in the residential section of the city also contribute to evening entertainment. Bandar Lampung offers hotels of all price ranges and nightlife revolves around bars and pubs associated with the hotels. Other hotels offering a soothing comfortable environment for an evening include Sahid Bandar Lampung, Marco Polo, Indra Puri, and many small hotels dotting the circumference of the city like the Arinas, Hotel Andalas, Hotel Ria, Kemala, Sari Damai, Purnama, Wisma Bandar Lampung, Wisma Haji, Hotel Merpati and so on.

Emerging trend

The limited opportunities of night entertainment in Bandar Lampung can be attributed to the cultural blend of the local population from the Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim communities, and the limited western influences. Government regulations also have a role to play in night entertainment venues cropping up. Moreover, its economic background is also restrictive to an extent. Change is imminent as Indonesia emerges as a sought after tourist destination. It will not be too long before the city will boast of a variety of night entertainment options.
