Port-au-prince Nightlife, Haiti

Port-au-Prince is more of a dangerous city for travel, especially for its nightlife, and although there isn't much there, travelers can still find a few places to spend their nights out.  Travelers who are looking for a place to enjoy the nightlife should ensure that they are very aware of what their surroundings are like while they are out. 

In the city, there are worries of traveling safely anyway, and safety risks rise as the days get later, which is when the grittier parts of the city have a higher street crime rate.  It is definitely not safe to travel on foot alone.  Groups of people are always better, but it is safer to travel during the night in a vehicle.

With these safety risks in mind, it is not unusual for many travelers to go to Petionville, which is a suburb/neighborhood just outside of Port-au-Prince.  This is a more upscale part of the country where it is a little safer to travel during the night to enjoy the nightlife of Haiti. 

 Magdoos is a great middle eastern restaurant and bar where they serve good middle eastern snacks and drinks.  There is usually a good international crowd that gathers there.  Petionville also has many other nightclubs and bars where there is plenty of dancing.

Some people even like to travel across the border to the Dominican Republic.  However, for those travelers that choose this option, it is best that they make reservations at a hotel or something so that they don't have to make a trip back into Port-au-Prince during the late hours of the night, or early, dark hours of the morning.

The best places, however, to experience the nightlife of Port-au-Prince is at its many hotels.  For the many travelers that come to this area, this is probably their safest and closest option for enjoying the nightlife of the country.  Most of the hotels in the city have live entertainment with dancing and drinks.  La Villa Creole is one of the hotels in Port-au-Prince that is widely considered to be one of the city's best.  The El Rancho is another hotel that is considered to be very good and comes highly recommended to travelers.  Besides the nightlife live entertainment, both of these hotels are also great places for travelers to stay while they visit Port-au-Prince.
