Essen Nightlife, Germany
The Rurh area is one of the largest urban areas in Europe and Essen is right smack in the center of it. And in its own right Essen has been and still is among the list of prominent cities in Europe and it is known as the “desk of the Rurh area”. Thus, naturally a lot more is to be expected from Essen aside from its flourishing economy.
The hustle and bustle of this thriving city does not end at dusk. There are definitely a lot of exquisitely wild places to hop around. Essen has over sixty bars and clubs and partying is non-stop in several different locations. If you are looking for a warm comfortable place in Essen where you can sip cocktails while chatting with your friends, then head out to the southern quarter. There you will find Daktari a small yet stylish bar with the best Mojito in the city.
Meanwhile at the heart of Ruttenscheid smooth soul music and Latin beats resound within the walls of the tropical themed bar Menehune. However if you're hankering for real English and Irish beers then you should head out to Fritzpatricks' Irish Pub near Gruga Halle. The pub can accommodate a huge crowd and is often the hang out place of English Scottish and Irish students. In this place, you can have your fill of lamb, curry and Irish stew while live music is being played.
For those who are just itching to bump and grind on the latest Techno and House music, the places you should head out to are Essen's discotheques such as the Delta Musik Park, Musikpalette, Mudia Art and Ego Bar to name only a few. Lighthouse 21 has a long list of international DJs taking turns in spinning Electronica progressive House and minimal Techno while you dance your night away in a psychedelic frenzy under the club's rays of light.
Essen's list of bars and clubs is just endless and if you decide to bar hop to at least three bars in one night you'd probably feel like you've been around the world and beyond. However if you opt to have a more subtle evening of entertainment watching the latest movies or musical performances you can head to the theaters. The city has several cinemas from which you could choose from such as the Astra Luna Theater, Galerie Cinema and Lichtburg. The city also boasts of several concert halls such as the Weststadthalle, Grugahalle and Stiftung Zollverein.
Honestly, the city is just swarming with a variety of themed bars cultural venues and of course gourmet restaurants that you'll never have to experience monotony during your entire stay.
