Jyvaskyla Sights and Landmarks Guide, Finland
Jyvaskyla is a great little place in Western Finland with a population of about 85000. It is also known as a University town and is situated nearby lakes Keitele and Paijanne. This place is a great site of a lot of education related firsts and is thus also called as “city of schools” and the “Athens of Finland”. It is also very popular for the amazing buildings that were designed by great Alvar Aalto.

The Alvar Aalto Museum
This is a great museum of design and architecture that was founded in the year 1966. It was designed by Alvar Aalto, the great architect and was completed in the year 1973. This museum actually functions as the Aalto information-center and organizes great exhibitions abroad and in Finland.
Viherlandia Gardens
It lies towards the East of Jyvaskyla and is a great botanic display sight. People who are interested in pants and tress find this place mesmerizing.
Sauna Village
It lies southwards from Rynnankya, Muurame. It is a very interesting collection regarding 24 of the saunas from various parts of this country. There are a lot of cafes, a crafts centre, a marketplace and collectibles.
Harju Ridge
This Ridge is just adjacent to the town center and has great parks on the slopes. It is a very famous picnic site and an ideal place to be enjoyed with family and friends. Water Tower or Vesilinna building stands on the ridge top as is used as an observation tower, museum and a restaurant.
The Craft Museum of Finland
It is a specialized museum meant for the Finnish handicrafts. It is a great place where people and skills meet. All the handicraft techniques ranging from lace making to house building, to designing ornaments are covered by the museum. It is also a center of national costumes in various conserved textiles.
