Helsinki Nightlife, Finland
Helsinki is definitely one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe. Because of this, it has many nightlife options for people regardless of what their specific tastes in this area might be.
If you're a person that enjoys nightlife activities that are outside of the normal bars and clubs that people tend to associate with a night out in town, Helsinki does have a number of cultural events that might interest you. There are Finnish jazz shows going on all the time during the evening hours in Helsinki. The city itself is very musical as well and part of that translates into recitals of famous classical music pieces during the evening hours.
Cafes are another great place to spend the evening and nighttime hours, although they are not as intense as some of the night clubs located close by. A good example of a café that would be great in the evening is Café Engel, located right next to the Lutheran Cathedral. This excellent café is frequented by the local Finns in Helsinki. It has an outer courtyard that you can sit in, it is a fantastic place to just watch people go by. During the summer they also have movies displayed in the courtyard during the evening and nighttime hours.
If bars and pubs are more to your liking, Helsinki has a number of those that should definitely meet with your approval. Ahjo is a very famous one in the city with a very modern interior and a very rough-looking exterior. It combines the loud flair of bars with the quieter ambience in the back rooms of clubs and card rooms, allowing you to have a loud laugh with many friends or an intimate and quiet dinner with one or two loved ones.
Finally, Helsinki is also home to nightclubs that could walk the walk with any nightclub in the world. A great example of this is a large establishment simply named The Club. There are three different areas within the nightclub that allow you to dance to Finnish music, pop music or rhythm and blues to your liking depending on the area that you choose. There are many hot and young people in these clubs every night, allowing you to even meet someone if that is what you want from the trip.
