Horsens Nightlife, Denmark
City Nightlife
There is an undeniable appeal to a city in the brink of progress but still in touch with its history and its rich culture. This can be said of the city of Horsens. Known foremost as a resort town, Horsens is visited by people who enjoy basking in the sun or frolicking in the clear waters of the Green Lagoon. Nature loving people also enjoy the beauty of the surrounding hills. Tourists marvel at the architectural wonders of the buildings and houses in and around the city. Knowing these things, one might think that Horsens is a city best enjoyed by day. What some people may be surprised to know is that Horsens is not only a city that buzzes with life when the sun is out; its nightlife scene is also pretty spectacular.
Start your evening by dining out at Horsens' excellent restaurants and cafes. If you want to sample unique Danish dishes, and at the same time learn a bit about the city's history, Cafe Gaslight is the place to be. For those who would like a quiet dinner to start their evening, then head to Eydes Kaelder, a restaurant found in the most beautiful building in Horsens, the Jorgensens Hotel. Enjoy your food in lush and extravagant surroundings. Aside from these choices, there are also restaurants that offer other fares. Tequila Sunrise is popular for their Mexican food and Spoon Sushi and Tapas is praised for their eclectic mix of Japanese and Spanish dishes.
Horsens may look like your typical, charming Danish city, but its nightlife scene can match those of the bigger cities in Denmark or in fact, the rest of the world. One only needs to visit Paddy's to see how crazy it can get. In the pub, drinks flow freely and the music is loud, hip, and young. Crazy Daisy is perhaps a bit tamer, but not less fun. Divided into two sections, Crazy Daisy's ground floor is where one can rock and roll to the good old hits, while the first floor is transformed into a club called “The Tiger”. There, the biggest hits are played in an atmosphere that is chic and subdued. At Molly Malones, one can enjoy live music while eating, and there is much dancing and partying in the late hours.
In the past year alone, Madonna and the Rolling Stones have performed to a legion of fans in Horsens. This perhaps, is an indication of where and what Horsens will be in the near future: Denmark's most progressive and entertainment-rich cities.
