Esbjerg of Denmark was founded in 1868 when the state was used in replacing the harbor in Altona. Esbjerg has been connected to Fredericia and Varde through the rail in 1874. Altona is Hamburg’s westernmost district located on the right side of the Elbe. During 1650 the Fredericia was founded by Frederick III, which is known as the city in eastern Jutland, Denmark.
Varde is the city located in the south-west Denmark. The city celebrates its yearly music festival that lasts for nine days (2 weekends) during the month of August and it is held at the central Torvet Square.
Esbjerg used to be the biggest fishing port in Denmark and the port was still the town’s economic driving strength and the fishing industry was the major industry. Oil companies like Ramboll Oil and Gas, ABB A/S, COWI, Atkins Denmark, and the Maersk Oil & Gas have offshore-linked activities in Esbjerg. Big international consulting companies specializing in economics, environmental, and science stayed also in Denmark.
Esbjerg is known to have a big transport center for highway and railway. The Danish State Raiways operates the railway in the city. Esbjerg is known to be one of main town of the University of Southern Denmark and also has the Aalborg University branch. The University of Southern Denmark was built in 1998 by the Odense University, South Jutland University Center and the Southern Denmark School of Business and Engineering. The Aalborg University is one of the universities in Aalborg, Denmark that provides high standard in terms of education.
Esbjerg was chosen twice as the “City of the Year.” The first time the city was awarded was in 1997 because of the corporate work on private and public companies. Due to the support and work of young talents, the city was awarded for the second time in 2006. The city has lots of museums, libraries, and theaters for ballet, drama, and opera shows.
Esbjerg is one of the successful cities in Denmark that has good quality universities and lots of tourist attractions. Esbjerg has proven it as their city was elected twice as the “City of the Year.”
