Medellin Nightlife, Colombia

 Medellin’s nightlife is truly something to experience.  You will find restaurants for every taste, with excellent service as the norm.  Most Columbians eat late and slowly enjoy the meal and dinner conversation.  After a leisurely dinner, a club or bar will exude the energy for which this city is known for.  Be prepared to stay up late, however, as most of the city’s hotspots don’t even open until 11 p.m., and most are open into the wee morning hours. 

Leave your denim at home, as it is not usually allowed in the clubs, which prefer the trendy, up-to-date fashions of Latin America.  Medellin is known for its beautiful, cultured people, so pack your coolest and most hip fashions pieces when you visit.  You absolutely cannot overdress when you are in Columbia.

Some of the most recommended clubs in Medellin are located in the heart of the city. 

Prozack is a new bar and very trendy.  Mangos is a large, upscale club, with music ranging from salsa to hip-hop.  There is no dance floor, so people are often dancing in between tables.  It is also known for the beautiful women that frequent this great club.  A tourist tip, this bar does not allow sneakers. 

Tribiri is a local dive bar that is known to have some of the best music.  There are no signs to this club, just steps that lead to the basement where the club is located.

As far as restaurants, there are many to choose from and everyone will find something to suit their tastes. 

Some of the better restaurants include La Triada, an open air restaurant with wonderful Columbians foods.  Be sure to arrive early, as Columbians have dinner well into the early hours.  Basilica is another great restaurant that serves a superb international menu and has terrific service.  Both of these restaurants are located in Zona Rosa, a section of the city that houses many of the more popular restaurants and clubs.
