Graz Sights and Landmarks Guide, Austria
The city of Graz is one of the very famous tourist hot spots in Austria and lately the government of Austria has worked hard to built some new monuments which have become important tourist attractions. Recently some very modern public buildings have been built in Graz so as to attract more number of tourists. Two very famous amongst all are Colin Fournier (which is a famous museums located in the proximity of Mur River) and Kunsthaus (which is a house for modern art that was designed and built under the supervision of Peter Cook). Another newly built attraction is the island which is totally made of steel. It is situated in River Mur and is called as Murinsel (which means Island in Mur).
Lurgrotte happens to be a very famous cave system of Austria which has recently become an important tourist attraction due to the mysteries which are attached with it. You must visit this complex system of caves if you really love mystic places.
Those interested in spa and other similar natural methods of healing their bodies can head towards Thermenregion which is situated towards the eastern side of Graz. It is one of the very famous regions that is entirely dedicated to spa activities which are run by various experts.
The city of Graz has huge number of museums due to the rich history which it possesses. Some of the famous museums which reflect the historical culture of Graz are Neue Galerie, Camera Austria, Literaturhaus, Luftfahrtmuseum, Natural History Museum, Museum der Wahrnehmung, Grazer Kunsthaus, Hanns Schell Collection, and Alte Galerie etc. If you are interested in late medieval weapon history, you shoudln´t miss the Grazer Zeughaus. There are weapons and armory for over 13000 people stored, all still useable, because there are severalarmourers looking for all the things to be functional. The weapons origin all from about the 16./17. century.
If you are interested in learning how a city is actually built then you must visit the location where Graz Reininghaus (which used to be a brewery) was initially located. This is currently largest city development projects which are currently running successfully in Austria.
Calvary Hill happens to be the historical area in Graz which contains a church and a cavalry which was built in the 17th century. You must visit this place for its scenic beauty and the awesome architecture which the church building reflects.
Another awesome place to visit is Gemaltes Haus (which means painted house). It is located in ‘Herrengasse Three’ and is famous due to the huge number of frescos which cover the complete monument. These frescoes were built in the year 1742 by the famous painter Johann Mayer.
