The previous day when we departed from Brasov, we wanted to find a motel somewhere not so far, but there were no motels in the villages near the city. Finally we decided to drive to Tusnad (the city near the lake) and sleep there. Tusnad is a very popular holiday resort in Romania so we knew that there will be many motels and hotels. But we didn't think that nearly all will be full or too expensive (particulary for the service it gave)...

After hours of searching for a reasonable place to stay we found a nice one and went to sleep.

The next day we drove to the St. Anna Lake. It wasn't very far away but the road was bad so we had to drive slowly. At the end of the way (we thought that we had arrived:)) we saw many cars and that everyone was waiting for something. After some minutes a guy came and said that we can leave the car there for about $2 (5 RON) but we can also park down, very close to the lake but that will cost us $4. The fee seemed a bit too much but divided in four it wasn't a fortune so we asked if the road is good... the guy said that there are some holes in it, but it's good.

It was very very bad! We thought that will never arrive... and down the parking place was nothing but very badly surfaced ground and there was only one guy to look after about 60 cars... and for this we paid 4 bucks...

But the lake was beautiful and it wasn't very crowded. The only bad thing was that the water was cold but we enjoyed it very much. This lake is really special because it is a volcanic lake and it's surrounded by mountains and woods.

I liked this place very much and I think my boyfriend too so I hope we will visit it again sometime.

Iasi History

The Middle Ages represented a dramatic period in Iasi history, as the city had to face numerous attacks, coming from the Tatars, Ottomans and Russians. Voivode Vasile Lupu was the one to encourage the city’s cultural life, founding the first Romanian school and first printing press. Some of Iasi’s most prestigious monuments of architecture were built in the 17th and 18th centuries: schools, orthodox churches, synagogues.Iasi History – Iasi across the 19th and 20th centuries The 19th century represented the most intense period in the history of Iasi, as the city played a major role in the development of the Romanian culture....
