Munich is certainly one of the most interesting cities in Germany. It's the second largest city with about 2 Mio inhabitants and offers a wide range of cultural activities. Something that's very nice about Munich is the fact that it is large but still has a small town character. While conservative, it is home to some cutting edge and modern companies such as BMW.
There are a vast number of site you can visit in Munich, including the English Garden during the summer months, the 1972 Olympic Stadium and of course the Marienplatz, which is the center of the city. Whether you want to go for good Bavarian food, do some sightseeing, visit the opera or theaters, you'll find everything in this city. When you go, make sure you eat a 'Schweinshaxe' and enjoy some good Bavarian beer.
Finally, Munich is home to the world famous Oktoberfest. When you go you should be prepared for many people and a lot of beer of course.

Ø   Elector Max Joseph became the King of Bavaria. The Oktoberfest is his idea, originally a huge bash to commemorate the 1810 marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig I, his... Read more »
