The best ski resort in Austria, Radstadt

Getting here is easy. You can fly in to Salzburg, go by car along the Tauern highway or just hop on the express train. The resort is the heart of the Skialliance Amadé in an area that if full of other ski resorts like Obertauern, St Johan im Pongau and Dachstein.
Its population reaches over 4,500 residents. This number is exceeded by the number of tourists coming here every year. It is not a new resort and its history goes back to the 13th century which makes it even more appealing to visitors. The medieval town has been a major point of attraction throughout the centuries and its historic heritage attracts visitors. It has well-preserved city walls, round towers dating from 1289, the Capuchin tomb and a Gothic church dating 1417.
Besides a nice atmosphere in a medieval town, you can find here a variety of activities the tourist can experience to make their holiday memorable. The resort is not an ordinary one and many top class skiers have admitted its value as a resort offering the best in skiing by choosing to race down its well-prepared slopes that are to be found for both beginners and expert skiers, there’s a little something for everybody.
But this little bit is not quite so little, as tourists can benefit form Austria’s most extensive ski pass for 1-14 days that allows them to have access to 860 kilometers of slopes and more than 270 lift facilities between within the ski regions. You can ski all day and choose to spend each night in a different resort, this way you can see the whole area on skis. Getting a ski pas for the number of days you think will spend in this area is a good idea as you will save a lot of money. If you want to see it all, get the Salzburg-Super-Skipass for all ski slopes in the county of Salzburg.
There are 220 km of cross-country tracks available out of which 160 kilometers of prepared cross-country tracks (for classic-style as well as skating) at all difficulty levels and 20 km long well-prepared slopes at close access to the resort.
Cross-country skiing is very popular here as the resort boasts one of the largest and most beautiful cross-country areas of the Salzburger Sportwelt Amadé. No wonder there is an international cross country race called the Tauern race that is held here and that gets more than 1000 participants. If you are a cross-country skier you will definitely feel this is paradise and it can’t get any better. You can choose the difficult way or the easy one as you have lifts to take you to the front door of your hotel, so you can make it easy or tough just as you please. If you worry about getting bored of the same tracks guess what, if national champions feel they can always find new challenges on these tracks so can you.
Radstadt is a resort where something happens all the time. It is lively, fun and inviting and above all everybody can enjoy is splendor. The resort is not only for world class skiers, families with children will find themselves at home here, too. They can choose between all types of accommodation from four-star hotels to B&Bs. Its lovely weather suites kids that will enjoy playing in the snow with the sun shining on their face. Skiing for them will be fun and comfortable too as there are also some baby-lifts.
Among other activities, we can mention alpine skiing, skating, snowboarding, tobogganing, tennis, ice-curling, sleighing, carving, riding, winter hiking and boarding. Conditions are excellent for every and each of them.
But outdoor activities are not the only asset of the resort, the cuisine matches the quality of the activities offered. If you have international competitions held here you can find international cuisine, too.
Ski history was written here in Radstadt and the resort is a pioneer in many respects giving many world champions.
A place of tradition, history, trade, great location, excellent conditions for all types of skiing and other activities, Radstadt needs really no introduction to those who have heard about it, the least to those who have been there, but for those who have never heard about it the best introduction would be that this medieval town is a place that wrote history.
