Have you heard of it before? If your answer is no than this is probably because you are not among the wealthy and famous! Zurs is the favorite destination of the VIPs because it is the classiest resort in Austria. All local amenities and hotels are of the best. Skiing conditions are just as good and snow here is like powder.

Located at an elevation of 1700 m in the vicinity of Lech, Zurs is much more elegant than Lech which is just 4 km away. St Anton is a bit farther away at 10 km. Those who have been to Zurs once can really tell the difference from the other ordinary resorts and many stay loyal to it and keep coming back here considering it their second home or their winter escape.

The number of the residents who live here all year comes to a total of about 100 people but in winter you add ten times more and among them are the ski instructors that are about 130 in number so you can imagine the difference. Summer is very quiet in Zurs while in winter it fills with people and motion. The beautiful Vorarlberger buildings with carved wooden balconies light up in a show of lights. Even if it fills with people in winter Zurs is a quiet resort and offers VIPs the privacy they long for. But those who have been coming here for a long time know each other and feel like belonging to a big happy family.

The accommodation choices are various and many hotels have for or five stars many of which have facilities that gives you the possibility to ski directly next to the hotel’s entrance. This can be called skiing to the maximum! From the moment you get out of your hotel to the moment you get back you can be on skis all the time! In the past this was considered a necessary way or getting around in winter but now necessity has combined with pleasure.

It is said that skiing is one of the most expensive sports but here it really proves to be true as some rich people can afford to pay private classes of skiing having an instructor all for themselves and this is all for the better as Zurs is not avalanche free due to its position in a valley surrounded by mountains, thus knowing all the safety precautions is a must. Skiing in Zurs is sheer pleasure and many expert magazines have ranked the resort among the best in skiing opportunities, so a classy resort like this needs no advertising and it is still full of people, booking in advance is a must if you want to get a place here and booking should be done at least a month prior to your departure or sometimes just to be sure even more. Teachers here are said to be among the best and learning happens fast and efficiently.

Being a quiet resort there is not much action during the night, there is only a small disco and the favored activity is dining in a nice and calm atmosphere. Restaurants here are among the best and prices match the quality. Some restaurants accept only the guests of the hotel where the restaurant is located.

Shopping is not a means of spending your time either as you can mainly find here only the necessary equipment for skiing.

But the resort is no short in outdoor activities and winter sports like snowshoeing, sledding and ice skating.

All in all Zurs is an exclusive resort and a very expensive one. If you want to see how and where the rich and famous spend their winter and experience all the facilities and local amenities and above all the skiing opportunities, Zurs is the place! If you have never seen a similar resort you will never be able to make a comparison with what you were used to so far, go to Zurs and your opinion of what a classy resort means might change!
