The city of Maracaibo is the capital city for the western most state Zulia of Venezuela. It has also been famous by the tag-line of ‘the land loved by sun’ (which is expressed as La Tierra del Sol Amada in the local language).
Maracaibo is one of those cities for the country of Venezuela which regularly experience warm temperatures. Somehow the atmosphere becomes bearable with the cool breeze that blows due to the presence of huge lake in the proximity of the city. The highest ever temperature recorded in the city of Maracaibo was 41 degree Celsius while the lowest temperature ever recorded in this city was around 18 degree Celsius. The annual average maximum temperature stays around 31 degree Celsius while the annual average minimum temperature stays around 25 degree Celsius. These figures are enough to reflect the amount of warmth that is present in the climate of Maracaibo.
The metro rail system of Maracaibo City is under construction and is expected to ease the transport conditions of the city. Metro del Sol Amado is the name given to the metro rail transport system of this city. As of now many kinds of buses run on the roads of Maracaibo and they are currently the only methods using which the locals of the city move from one place to the other. The thing to note is the La Chinita International Airport for the city of Maracaibo. An estimate says that this airport manages around 90 percent of total flights that flow out of Venezuela when compared to all other international airports of Venezuela. Another major transport related attraction of the city is the famous General Rafael Urdaneta Bridge which used only cables to hang itself in air. It is around 9 kilometers in length and was started for the general public somewhere in the year of 1962.
Recently the city of Maracaibo has experienced huge immigration from other parts of the country due to the increasing political as well as economical importance of the city. In terms of education too the best university of Venezuela is part of Maracaibo City itself. The university is called as La Universidad del Zulia and is famous on the national level for its above par medical and law courses.
