Vancouver Sights and Landmarks Guide, Washington

Vancouver, Washington is one of the oldest cities of the state. Aside from its historical significance, the city is also visited by tourists as the place is home to some unique destinations. The city is basically just a small town but has significant tourist spots that should not be missed by any local and other tourists alike.

The biggest attraction of Vancouver is the Fort Vancouver National Historic Reserve. The Fort was established in 1825 and immediately became an important trading point of the country. Through this fort, different products where shipped in and out of the country. Before Los Angeles and other cities in the west became popular, Fort Vancouver is the point of business in the west coast.

The Fort offers guided tours everyday wherein reconstructed parts of the Fort are shown to the tourists. The traditional way of life as well as the business setting could be easily seen through the reconstruction.

Not to be missed as well is the Murdock Aviation Museum. This museum was built in honor of Jack Murdock, one of the most popular personalities in the aviation industry. Interestingly, the museum is located in Pearson Airfield. Aside from being fully functional, it's also one of the oldest airfields in the country. A separate museum that chronicles the history of the airfield is also found there.

The 'Officer's Row' shouldn't be missed as well. The name was based on the fact that the house were used by many soldiers and their officers. The area used to be owned by the military but it was eventually handed over to the city as a significant and historic site. The structures located in this area of the city were mostly constructed during the 19th century. What makes it remarkable is that houses feature fine Victorian Architecture that is rarely seen today.

The goods that come out of Vancouver, WA are also something that the locals are very proud of. Every Saturday and Sunday from April to September, fresh fruits and vegetables could be purchased in their local supermarket. Farmers from different parts of town and its neighboring cities come to Vancouver to sell their fresh products. Locally made crafts and products are also available during these months.

The city of Vancouver is proud of its history and abundance of nature's gifts. Tourists from different parts of the country come to this place to enjoy a nice weekend while touring the historic sites of Vancouver.
