Myrtle Beach Travel Guide, South Carolina
Myrtle Beach takes one of its names for the many myrtle trees in this area and the other for the remarkable beach sought by millions of visitors each year that overrun the place especially in summer. If you fancy a secluded, wild beach this is definitely not the place to be.
This top vacation destination is set along the East Coast, at the center of the Grand Strand, a 60-mile string of beaches making it an ideal base for a Grand Strand vacation.
Even if Hawaii rings a bell in the foreigners’ ear, the Grand Strand is far more popular with the Americans as it hosts more than twice as many visitors each year. But that is about to change as North European tour groups begin to flock to the area, due to the increasing advertisements presenting the place as the most authentic American resort and also due to the much lower prices they have to pay for accommodation while food and drink are super-cheap.
Drawing visitors all year round, this seaside resort has made South Carolina come second after Florida as a top tourist destination and being the largest beach resort along the Grand Strand, the facilities are definitely the greatest in number.
This destination is family oriented attending to both children's and adults’ needs. Families being an important part of the trade and all efforts are made to keep it that way. Families will have nothing to complain about. Everything is done to meet their needs from the hotels that provide playgrounds with supervision and babysitting for the night to banning thong bathing suits and topless bathing on the area reserving an isolated place for them.
They even projected versions of Disney World for the families’ amusement including a Hurricane roller coaster, a carousel, kiddy and carnival rides, video games, a teenage nightclub and much more and the best thing about it that the prices are much lower than in Orlando. With these prices and wide options no wonder people keep coming!
Another full of fun attraction is the state's largest water park where people come to cool down while having the world of fun on the world's tallest tubular slides, the Lay Zee River, the Ocean in Motion Wave pool, Saturation Station with waterfalls and Bubble Bay. All of them offer a different thrill and pace.
Besides the entertainment centers, the beach is also a big attraction and there is plenty to do here too: whether you just want to lay on the beach and sunbathe or go for more activity including water sports, swimming or boating the options are wide open. Fishing enthusiasts have a lot of opportunities to practice their favorite sport and they can choose from locations like: a public pier, the surf or a charter boat. Getting on a charter boat is quite easy as you don’t have to book too much ahead.
There are other reasons, besides the beach, why people come to the resort. They also come for sightseeing, the shopping opportunities, tennis and golfing. It is quite easy to get guest-membership privileges you just have to ask about it at your hotel’s reception.
The many nightlife opportunities are also main draws. There are many venues to choose from. Barefoot Landing is one of them featuring 13 restaurants; but there are many other restaurants that deliver-everything and anything you could possible hope for!
There are every kind of bar and nightclub imaginable, a world class entertainment, a seat for every movie, and a thrill for every interest.
Great fun, great food, great shopping, great nights are to be experienced at Broadway at the Beach in the heart of town. It features a chain restaurant, an IMAX theater, late-night bars and dance clubs, the Aquarium (Ripley's) where you can view the fish swim behind the glass.
So dance the night away, see a play, listen to the blues, laugh aloud, or avoid the crowds, whatever your favorite night includes is waiting for you with the Best Family Beach in America, Myrtle Beach.
