Portland Sights and Landmarks Guide, Oregon

Portland is a beautiful city in the US. It is situated in the northwest and it is also known as America's best kept secret. Portland is also referred to as the greenest city in the United States. The city is full of entertainment spots and wonderful sights. There are a lot of theatres, nightclubs, pubs, bars, restaurants, fun parks, zoo and wonder natural landscapes.

The major tourism spots in Portland include Portland Classical Chinese Garden, Regional Arts & Culture Council, Powell's City of Books, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Japanese Garden, Pioneer Courthouse Square, Grant Park and Portland International Raceway etc.

Pioneer Courthouse Square It is also known as Portland's Living Room. There are many notable sights in this area including Weather Machine and many sculptures.

The Japanese Garden The peaceful atmosphere of Japanese Garden make it a place 'Where Heaven and Earth Meet'.  It is honored as the most authentic garden of Japan outside Japan. In this garden, you will find five different concepts of Japanese garden cultures including the Flat Garden, the Tea Garden, the Dry Landscape Garden, the Strolling Pond Garden and the Natural Garden. The Japanese Garden is located above the International Rose Test Garden.

Portland Center of the Performing Arts It is a premier place for live performances by the domestic and international artists. It is located in a fancy brick building between Park Blocks and Broadway. Next to the park is a big PORTLAND sign “Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall”. It is a historical concert house. Classical concerts and live events are hosted here.

The Public Services Building The public service building is considered an architecture icon in Portland. It was designed by Michael Graves and built in 1982. It is also known as Portland Building. The statue 'Portlandia” in front of Portland Building is the second largest copper statue in the United States.

North Cascades National Park   Three areas are merged together to form North Cascades National Park. These areas are Lake Chelan National Recreation Areas, North Cascades National Park and Rose Lake.

 Pearson Air Museum It is located across the river in Vancouver. It is a historical museum that is located on the oldest, continuously-operating air field in Vancouver, Washington.

Portland Zoo It features more than 200 species of birds and animals including reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.

Pittock Mansion It provides excellent views of the Portland city. It was formerly the home of Henry Pittock, the owner of the Oregonian Newspaper.

    Although I was in Portland only when I was young, I can say that it's a nice clean place with nice outdoor activities not too far away. Mt. Rainier is one of my favorites. It is not very busy, but maybe that's why it is so attractive. It's calm andnot thenightlife is the best thing about it....
