Prime Time is a joint for the 21-and-over mob and insomniacs who love to heat up the dance floor. A sports bar for those who don’t want to shimmy but who love the acrobatics of the DJs and their music. Elite mimics a big city club with its very now sleek décor and posh VIP lounge. For those who are addicted to hip-hop and techno, have a fill of the best repertoire dished out by top DJs. Guests who drop before 11 p.m. get in without having to shell out a cover charge and enjoy drink specials frequently lined up as very nice treats. Dress code is relaxed, but the extreme is not welcome. The club is located on 317 N Superior St. Toledo.
Murphy’s Place is where the live jazz sound is. Catch Ramona Collins, Toledo’s diva sing the blues and the regular mainstays powerhouse bassist Clifford Murphy and his cool partner Claude Black. Other power divas are Glenda MacFarlin and Kim Buehler. Saxophonists of top caliber, Steve Wood and Buddy Sullivan, give Toledo jazz the cool sound. The jazz joint is housed in a restored historic building downtown Toledo along 151 Water Street.
Hang out in Bier Stube for the 80s and 90s live beat. The college crowd beat the path to Struber for a bit of nostalgia. You can’t miss the place on 5333 Monroe Street. Love tacos? Get there on Tuesday nights where the best tacos are served up to go with your beer.
The Distillery on the south end has a mix of cover bands and DJs whipping up 70s, 80s, and 90s dance tunes. This laid-back and casual joint is the Mecca of the young professionals who want to catch up with the latest news and renew ties with friends. Grab beer, and cocktails and have a good time. Direct the cab to 4311 Heatherdowns Blvd., Eastgate.
Country Connection connects guests to the unmistakable Midwest country sound. Guests enjoy the company of TV and Hollywood greats showing up on the flat TV screens lining the walls. Hop to the place on 3126 Lagrange Street.
Doc Watson’s let guests rock to catchy blues and techno rock. Musicians perform on a stage and in-between music stops the jukebox blares the upbeat nostalgic tunes while guests enjoy their munchies and drinks. Pool, billiard, and video games are available. Find the bar on 515 S Byrne Road, Glendale.
