Greensboro Sights and Landmarks Guide, North Carolina

Greensboro, NC is a city with a rich heritage and cultural foundation. The area remains a transportation and textile hub, but that does not mean there are not places to stop and see when visiting. With such a rich heritage, the city of Greensboro has much to offer both educationally and for those looking to have a little fun.

Guilford Courthouse National Military Park

It is the sight of one of the major battles. Every year, on March 15th, the locals celebrate the Battle at Guilford Courthouse. The park is noted for the local wildlife, biking trails and touring the historic lands from the comforts of your car.

Natural Science Center of Greensboro -Lawndale Avenue

It is a hands on science center with interactive exhibits for visitors of all ages. The science center teaches children and adults about geology, weather, health, paleontology and dinosaurs. The main attraction is a 36 foot tall Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Blandwood Mansion and Gardens -447 West Washington Street

They were first built in 1795. Today, this mansion is one of the major sights in Greensboro. The architecture, Italianate in design, is worth the stop. But the Blandwood Mansion does not stop there. The home is decorated with many of the original 1795 furnishing and the massive gardens are open for tours daily.

Guilford County Veterans Memorial -3905 Nathanael Greene Drive

With the armed forces on the front pages of every newspaper and in the news every night, it is nice to see a dedicated place to support those who have served in the 20th century. The Guilford County Veterans Memorial offers a history lesson and a place to thank the soldiers for their hard work and dedication to the United States. The memorial offers education about each war the United States participated in during the 20th century and maps to sections of the memorial.

While Greensboro may not be the largest city in all of North Carolina, sometimes it is the smaller places that offer the most for a visitor. From the Blandwood Mansion to the Veterans Memorial, literally hundreds of years of history are just waiting to be explored in Greensboro.
