Saint Louis, MO US - Overview: Excellent Place for Medical Aspirants
In 1764, René Augusta Chouteau and Pierre Laclede established Saint Louis as a fur trading post, after Louis IX, the king of France. The Soulard Farmer’s Market, which was founded in 1779, is in operation till date and prides itself on being the oldest farmer’s market in the west. Even the president, Ulysses S. Grant also used to peddle goods there.
Climate
Saint Louis is located on the border linking humid subtropical and humid continental climate. The absence of large water bodies and mountains leads to failing in moderating its temperature. Both the Gulf of Mexico’s hot & humid tropical air and the Canadian Arctic’s cold one mainly affect this region.
Tourism & Culture
There are many tourist attractions throughout Saint Louis City which display the art and culture prevailing in the city, both from the past and present. St. Louis Art Museum displays the wonderful artwork of Picasso, Rembrandt, Pissarro and Van Gogh. The city has also been long associated with excellent blues, jazz and ragtime music. Chuck Berry, a popular rock & roll singer and guitarist is a city native. He still performs now and then for his fans in the city during most parts of the year. Other popular music artists like Tina Turner and Ike Turner and Miles Davis, innovator of jazz, also chose the city for beginning their career.

Due to the presence of colleges and industries based on healthcare, the city is considered one of the best centers for biotechnology and medicine. With companies like Pfizer having one of their top research centers in this city, it is the place to be for medical aspirants.
Transport
The presence of Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, which is one of the best in the state of Missouri, makes traveling to Saint Louis comfortable. The city is also serviced by several interstate freeways including I-255, I-170, I-55, I-44, I-70, I-270 and I-64 and county & state roadways. Again, the presence of an extensive public transit network, which includes buses, taxi (24-hour network) and rail services, will help you reach different parts of the city with no hassle.
