Calling Lansing as the Biddle City
In 1836, two great brothers from New York actually plotted the area that is now called the REO Town. It was southwards of downtown Lansing and called it the “Biddle City”. All of this land was just a floodplain and remained under water for most of the year. Later, the brothers sold the plots to potential investors in New York. Many people bought land in this town that was yet to be formed and had nothing substantial to offer. They named the area the “Lansing Township”. This was done in order to honour their native home village back in New York.
