New Orleans Sights and Landmarks Guide, Louisiana

The New Orleans is full of attractions and wonderful sights for the people of all ages. New Orleans is situated near the Mississippi River offering American, European, African architecture and culture. Jackson Square and French Quarter serve as cultural hubs.

The Warehouse/Arts District is teemed with studios and galleries and used to distribute the goods through Mississippi River. Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi are two most famous local landmarks in New Orleans.  Some of the most famous sights and attractions in New Orleans include the following.

New Orleans Museum of Art

It is one of the finest art museums in the South, minutes away from the French Quarter. It features a fabric gallery, ancient collectibles and wonderful things of historical importance.

River Cruises

Visitors experience riverboats on the mighty Mississippi with a variety o options including dinner/jazz cruises, harbor cruises and aquarium/zoo cruises. It is one of the wonderful entertainment spots in New Orleans for families and couples.

Louisiana State Museum

It is the most famous historical museum in New Orleans. It exhibits Louisiana’s culture and history through various historical collectibles and artwork.

National D-Day Museum

The National D-Day Museum is established in  honor of those who won World War II.

New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum

This museum serves for displaying talismans, paintings, wood carvings and artwork. It also features the paintings of priestess Marie Laveau. Priestess Marie Laveau was a mulatto woman who reigned over New Orleans until her death.

Faubourg Treme

Faubourg Treme comes from a French term meaning suburb. It is the oldest black neighborhood in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The French Quarter is a historical place in New Orleans. This area is rich in antiques, restaurants, jam-packed bars and music outposts. The sidewalk artists show off their skills in the Bourbon Street.

St. Louis Cathedral
