Overland Park is situated in Johnson County, at the suburbs of Kansas City, in the worlds’ most popular United States. Featuring in the list of CNN/ Money and Money magazine's of the 100 best places to live in US it is the second most popular city in the country. Carl R. Garlach is the mayor.
Brief history
William B. Strang Jr., the founder of Overland Park came to the place back in 1905. He subdivided the military roadway of (2.4km²); one of those subdivisions was named as Overland Park. The Wright brothers held their first flight show here on December24, 1909.In 1960 the area consisted of 17.2 square miles and had a population of 28,085. In 2005 the incorporated land area grew to 62.26 square miles, with a population of over 167,000.

Overland Park has a number of interesting places of attraction, as follows:
Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens are very popular. Many natural ecosystems are preserved over here. Traditional botanical gardens, Visitors center and walking trails are some of its other features.
The New Theatre Restaurant is the sole Actors' Equity Association of the state with a capacity of 600.In the Dick Clark's American Bandstand Grills the 50s theme is being displayed here, with memorabilia from the personal musical collections of Dick Clark's. The large TV screens show the American Bandstand performances. Mainly American cuisines are available here. Banana spill, healthy salads and burgers form the main items in the menu list.
The John Brown Memorial Statue is one of its kinds, being a handmade one. John Brown is famous for Pottawatomie Massacre.
The Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead looks just like the 1900s farmhouse. It has a fishing pond, farm animal, early 1900s century house, garden, horse drawn wagon rides, etc. The visitors can pet and feed an array of animals.
St. Andrews Golf Club is one of the most famous golf clubs of the state. The Academy here has experienced personals who teach the interested students. The teacher student ratio is 1:6 which makes it a great interacting place for the student and the teacher.
The Oak Park Mall is one of the major shopping malls of the state, with about 180 stores.
The Kansas City Curling Club is a volunteer club which encourages participants to learn and grow interest in curling to compete on international arena.
The Corporate Woods Jazz festival is organized by the Overland Park South Rotary Club and is an annual Jazz festival for raising funds for the local children’s charities. It is held at the Corporate Woods in Overland Park, in the month of June, each year.
