Johnson Community College
The Johnson Community College, which came into existence in 1969, has a lot to offer in the field of meetings, films, performances and athletic events. The Santa Fe Commons Park has amenities, which include shelter, picnic tables, parking and restrooms. Again, there is access for the disabled.
Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden, promoting the growth of environmental education, recreation and nature appreciation, is spread over an area of 300 acres. Here, sceneries keep on changing as season changes, which is widely appreciated by the visitors. A plethora of trails, trips and field tours are also available in this place.
Incred
‘Incred’ is a bowl and family fun center. Visitors can lay their hands on mini-golf, bowl, video games and many more. There is a restaurant, where birthday packages are also available.
Deanne Rose Children’s Farmstead
There is ‘Deanne Rose Children’s Farmstead’, spread over an area of 12 acres. It has an amusement park, which has a number of attractions and activities to offer. The list ranges from horse ride to fishing pond and school house to flower garden.
Marshalls Home and Museum
It came into existence in 1859 in the new Jackson county jail and Marshall’s home. The Kansas Nebraska act was passed in 1854, which opened the territory to settlement. Under this act, the issue of slavery was determined by sovereignty. The ‘Marshall’s home’ can be seen from the main street. However, a self guided tour for the museum and the jail is recommended.
American Jazz Museum
‘The American Jazz Museum’ lives with the sound of the American art form. The museum has educational programs, interactive exhibits, blue room, a Jazz club and a Gem theatre.
City Market
Switching over to shopping, the ‘city market’ is the best to spend the weekend. Home to the river market neighborhood, the city market is a mix of merchants and restaurants. The merchants have a wide collection of flowers, distinctive gifts, foods from across the world and home accessories.
These sights are an excellent supplement to the beauty of Overland Park and have formed the primary reason for the growth in its tourism industry.
