History of West Palm Beach

Incorporated in the last decade of the 19th century, the population of the city started multiplying due to a strong growth seen in the economic and social sphere. Though a gradual downfall was witnessed due to the great depression, it soon came to its original shape after the First World War. Thereafter, the city never had to look back. WIRK, the first radio station, was launched in 1953. The International airport was completed in 1966.

Armory Art Center

The Armory Art Center is an exhibition and visual arts education center. Classes are conducted for self-expression, art, individual growth, lectures and awareness. Founded in 1986, the art center has since then kept on adding areas under its campus and enriched the people through art.

City Palace

The City Palace, comprising of 600,000 square feet of businesses, has world class architecture, fountains and sidewalk cafes. Adjacent to it, is the Clematis Street, which is the heart of the West Palm Beach. It offers nightclubs, live music, restaurants, antique shops, landmarks and boutiques.

Kravis Centre

To add to the list is Kravis Centre, which is a $63 million modern architecture. It is more than just a place for performing arts organizing more than 800 events per year, which are attended by more than 400,000 people. It is a total marble and copper showcase. Positioned on Dreyfoos Hall, the highest point in the city it has captured 11 acres of area. It also features an amphitheatre and a playhouse.

Lion County Safari

Opened in 1967, the Lion County Safari was the then first ‘drive through’ park in the country. The concept of ‘cage-less’ zoo was also introduced later. It is a storehouse of nightlife and entertainment. Both forms of enjoyment are very much diverse.

Nightlife in West Palm Beach

Restaurants, pubs, coffee house and dance clubs are the home for the young. The West Palm Beach has the finest of the finest restaurants at its disposal. To name a few are The Atlantic Avenue, The Blue Martini, Hotel Nightclub and The Minzer Park.
