Many common snacks in Aleppo Syria such as shwarma and falafels are excellent. Fuul are also available in souks.
If you want to see things done, you can watch the men who fry a curry-flavored pancake. The pancakes are topped with a hot sauce and wrapped up in bread. You may also buy and taste some pita bread, which are freshly made and are so delicious. These excellent foods are available on every street in Aleppo. After you finished work, you can go to one of these food stalls and restaurants that provide excellent dishes.
Alcohol is very limited in the city of Aleppo, though it is permitted; only few stores are selling alcohol in the streets nearby the clock tower. Hotels and restaurants in the west part of the city, basically serve alcoholic drinks.
There are restaurants such as the Zaki al-Arsuzi, situated near Kommeh restaurant that provides a huge selection of Aleppo dishes and serves beers. Al-Sharg, which is known as the local beer as well as the Damascus brew barada, can be commonly found in these restaurants. A variety of beers are available in some part of Europe and Middle East. The large can of beer is usually sold for 50 SP and the wines from France, Lebanon and Syria start at 150 SP per bottle.
While roving in the area of souk, you can try to eat from any of those cafes available nearby the citadel’s base. They provide light drinks and snacks with a huge selection of refreshing lemonade and coffee. There are a lot of good cafes and restaurants within the area that provide very affordable meals and excellent restaurants can be found on the site of Christian Quarter.
The Beit Sissy could be a good choice. The restaurant has a fine looking courtyard. They also serve a shish kebab loaded with cherry sauce, which provides an exceptional taste.
To sum it up, one can say that nightlife in the city of Aleppo is more focused on restaurants and cafes rather than on bars and pubs that can be normally found in other cities. Perhaps, only few people in town drink alcohol, it’s safer to say that most of them prefer to hang out with their family and friends in cafes and restaurants.
