During the day, the beach is teeming with people looking to have a place in the sun in Durban. But when nightfall comes, people go to the northernmost part of the beach to enjoy the best clubs with different types of music.

But before you are treated with the fun, sexy side of the nightlife, grab a table in one of the restaurants and order a drink or two to enjoy the sunset. It’s a rare time of the day to enjoy nature for the last time before everyone goes to his or her favorite bars. Think of it like a timeout between the hot summer sun and an all-night dance escapade.

During the week, nightlife in South Africa is basically for the foreigners. But when weekend comes, expect locals from different walks of life come to fill the bars. The busiest day of the week for Durban’s nightlife is during Sunday. You’ll feel that almost every legal citizen in Durban is out every Sunday night. Be prepared for an all-night bumping especially when you end up in an upscale dance club.

If you are in Durban during the summer, bring bottled water with you. You’ll think you’ll be drinking anyway but you’ll soon find out you’ll be scrambling for water as soon as you get in. Most clubs in Durban are really hot during summer and it’ll just get hotter when you go to the dance floor. That is why the only rule in most clubs is to wear shoes - other than that; you can wear anything you want. There are people who wear so little you’ll think they are naked.

Getting to these places is a little bit challenging especially when nightfall comes. You can either walk but you’ll only be exhausted especially when you are located in the family friendly areas. That is why it is recommended to grab a taxi to visit these places. A taxi is also recommended if you are not familiar with the night clubs. A taxi will take you to the popular clubs that you may not have seen during the night. A taxi is also good for your protection.

Nightclubs are even better during New Year’s Eve. Each has their own theme and the party won’t seem to stop. You’ll find yourself going home for breakfast after hours and hours of partying and dancing. The sun maybe hot in Durban but Nightlife is even hotter.
