Jeddah Nightlife, Saudi Arabia

After the sun sets the night life in Jeddah goes into gear. Although the consumption and sale of alcohol is illegal in the entire Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this does not detract from the fun nightlife of the city.

Walking around its lively city streets you will find a vast array of entertainment and restaurants.  Eating out is the favorite pastime of most Saudi Arabian families. And Jeddah has every imaginable type of restaurant to cater to even the most discerning palette. From traditional Arabian cuisines of Nejdi Kbsa and Yemeni Mandi to grilled shawarmas, koftas, and kebabs, everyone can find food that is suited to one’s taste.   

Sindian Shawurma Restaurant was the first of its own kind to open in Jeddah. Its special shawurma cooked over charcoal, is its main attraction. Throw in some garlic sauce, gherkin or salad and you will have a culinary experience that will leave you wanting more.  

Overlooking the Red Sea, Scala Restaurant in Jeddah is the perfect place to have a seafood feast. Freshly caught fish, crabs and shrimps are prepared in mouthwatering dishes. A specialty of the restaurant is called the Sayadeyah, a tasty rice dish made from brown rice and cooked with fried with onions. You can also rent boats for an out off the ordinary dining experience on the Red Sea. 

If you want an open air dining experience, the Sun Rise Restaurant offers a tasty Lebanese mezza dish as its specialty. Enjoy the traditional Middle Eastern ambience while you dine on a variety of fish cuisines and even Italian dishes.  

Nightlife in Jeddah would be incomplete without a visit to the Corniche with its display of open air artworks and sculptures and the King’s fountain, considered to be the largest fountain in the world. Its lights and 261 water jet can be seen from miles around and is an awesome sight to see. There are also handcarts on the beach selling a wide assortment of selling candy, drinks and spicy chick peas. Why not settle down for a game of cards with locals or enjoy a cup of strong coffee as you chit chat. Or have smoke from a hookah, a traditional water pipe that comes with an assortment of flavors. 

Car racing is a major nightlife activity in Jeddah. You can see people hanging out in the classy Tahliya Street with their latest race car models. You can also see a lot of Western style cafes and fancy shops in this area. Whatever type of entertainment you are looking for Jeddah will not disappoint you. If the Kingdom would have one address for the perfect nightlife spot it would be Jeddah.
