These weather particularities are also due to the fact that Targoviste is surrounded by hills which create a protecting barrier in front of the cold air masses. The local hydrographic network is represented by the Ialomita River and a few small tributary streams which cross the city.

The local flora and fauna is in perfect harmony with the topography and climate and is strongly influenced by the urban activities present in Targoviste.
