Lisbon nightlife can be imagined with parties that go on until four or five in the morning, both on weekends and during the week. The traditional place to look for real Lisbon nightlife would be Bairro Alto with the wide array of canteen-like bars, upscale clubs and fado clubs. Bars do not close in Lisbon until four in the morning and alcohol can be purchased as long as you’re at least sixteen.

Lisbon Nightlife – City Bars

It is never hard to find a bar in Bairro Alto, as it is simply full of such places. The ideal thing for you to do would be to walk up the hill from the Praça Luís de Camões and then go west from the metro station of Chiado.

There are a lot of competing bars when it comes to Lisbon nightlife, especially along Ponte 25 de Abril. The Irish bar Celtas Iberos is probably the most well-known one. One great bar to visit is A Margem, which can be found in Belém. The entire bar is made of glass and steel and is located at the edge of the waters between the Torre de Belém and the famed monument the Discoveries.

If you’d rather visit a minimalist yet trendy bar that is frequented by the locals, visit Clube da Esquina, which is a big favorite of the younger crowd. This is a very easy place to find during the weekends since young people can always be found sipping on caipirinha around the street near it. The decorations are very cool and the DJs spin various types of music, such as electronica, house and hip hop.

If you are a wine lover, Di Vino is the place to be. They occasionally have live music here, while the Instituto de Vinho do Porto offers more than three hundred kinds of port. To truly experience Lisbon nightlife, the traditional canteen-like bar Arroz Doce is the place to be. You can order pontapé na cona here, which is a dark and sweet beer. And fado performances are also done for the ideal evening in Lisbon.

Lisbon Nightlife – City Nightclubs

If you are looking for great nightclubs similar to the lively ones that can be found in Malaga and Sevilla, go to the Doca de Alcântara. Males and females of various ages and nationalities tend to frequent Queens. Kapital and Kremlin are both also very popular. Kapital has an Egyptian theme and tends to play mostly techno. Kremlin has three stories, of which each has a different style and therefore caters to anyone’s taste. Lux is definitely the hottest nightclub in Lisbon so far, though. Famous celebrities, such as John Malkovich, come to this funky club often. This is probably due to its latest rooftop wine bar addition, which adds a great feel to the place.
