Pasay, Philippines – Overview: The aromatic city
One of the constituents of Metro Manila, the city of Pasay, is surrounded by Makati city, Manila and Taguig city. Owing to its adjacent position to Manila, the city grew rapidly and became an urban city in no time.
How Pasay got its name?
Pasay is named after the plant Pasaw, which has an exotic aroma and is abundant in the region of Basal. The name may also have been derived from the Pasai group in Malaysia.
The city of Pasay was originally a part of Masama, which was then separated from Pasay in 1863. The city was incorporated on June 21, 1947 and was renamed as Rizal city to pay a mark of respect to Jose Rizal, the national hero of the country. December 2 is celebrated as the anniversary day of the city.
Location
The city spreads over an area of 19 square kilometers, of which 10 square kilometers are under the control of Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA). The area includes all the air bases. The city comprises of seven districts, which are sub divided into 20 zones. The 19th zone is the largest one.
Pasay is very famous for the entertainment zones and restaurants it flaunts. Then there are clubs, coffee shops and hangout places.
Transportation
The city boasts some of the finest bus services in the country. It is very well connected to the nearby cities of Makati, Taguig and Manila. The Interstate Bus service, which runs from Pasay to Manila, is considered the best in Philippines. Air service also holds a good rank as domestic airlines operate very frequently and shorten the distance and time. Air Philippines is the major operator and some private airlines run from other provinces. Besides these, railways also operate and take active part in adding revenue to the economy.
Accommodation
As Pasay is placed very near to Manila and Makati, it flaunts some of the biggest names in the hotel industry. To start with there is the Green View Hotel, which is placed very near to the airport. It offers the best entertainment and restaurants in the city. The Flushing Meadows is the best deluxe resort and offers a paradise experience to the guests. It also offers diving and fishing facilities. Then comes The Green Nature and Blue Hill View, which offer no less than others in terms of features.
