Olongapo City has always been blessed by Nature with a marvelous concept. It has the Subic Bay’s calm waters that can be seen by anyone who goes there in just one ride from the center of the city going towards North offering a breathtaking view of its natural harbor. Aside from that, there are other numerous attractions in the city that offer more than what is expected.
A number of tourist spots in Olongapo city include the Gordon Memorial Park where the “Father of Olongapo City” Mayor James L. Gordon was buried. This is located near the public cemetery at Kalaklan bridges edge that provides a view of the Subic Bay.
Another spot that offers a good view of the Bay area is the Subic Bay Lighthouse located in the National Highway going up North, which is an absolutely good place for picture taking. If you are looking for a sacred place where you can pray to the Lord of Pardon, then you should go near the Kalaklan Bridge where you would find the Grotto of Our Lady of Pardon on its side.
If you are bringing along your kids with you, then you should go visit the Marikit Park which is located in the heart of the city which has a scenic playground with numerous benches distributed around for relaxation.
Another choice would be the Friendship Park which as at the main gate of Subic Bay Freeport that also has a small children’s park at the Northern side. Other spots include the World Peace Memorial which greets you with a dove as a sign of peace when you are just about to enter Olongapo City, which was built to honor those who gave their lives in the battle of Zigzag Pass; and the Magsaysay Drive and Rizal Avenue which is the business center of the city where you will find chains of nightclubs, bars, sauna baths and restaurants.
If you go to Olongapo to visit Subic Bay, then get ready for an experience worth your life time. It is loaded with theme parks that would suit any of your adventure preference. One of the parks you would see there is the Jungle Environmental Survival Training Camp which provides demonstration of premier jungle survival skills, with instructors who trained US Special Forces.
Other theme parks include the Subic Extreme Adventure Park which offers various adventurous activities such as Tension Traversing, High Ladder Climbing and much more; and the Jungle Life Encounter that offers a close encounter with roaming wild animals by riding in a modified jeepney.
These are the basic attractions you can find in Olongapo, which in arriving there; it would be no surprise if you get overwhelmed by the excitement that the location provides.
