Cagayan De Oro Nightlife, Philippines
If it weren’t for rich eco-tourism and growing economy, not many tourists would be interested to fly to Cagayan de Oro and discover what a bustling nightlife awaits them here.
With the presence of major shopping centers like SM City, Limketkai, Gaisano Mall, Robinsons, Makro and Ororama chain of stores, the dining and entertainment scenario has gone livelier. A large array of bistros, coffee shops, dessert venues, bars and spa salons makes it all easier for locals and foreign visitors to unwind marvelously. The Ayala Mall and Pacific Island are believed to be rising soon to give more alternative hang-out spots.
Who says shopping is busy at daytime? It is at night, too. The best deals are availed even after 8:00 in the evening at The Night Café at Divisoria where people gather for food, music and best bargains.
Bars in Cagayan de Oro usually open at 7 o’clock in the evening but the crowd stars to flock at around 10. For house music fanatics, you might feel at home at Volume in SM Mall, FU Bar and 1150 Bar. Rhythm and blues are played at Café Macumba in Limketkai while folk acoustic can be heard at Inilog Grill. Philieas Fogg Restaurant is known for its good food and ballad singers serenading the diners. If you plan on singing your heart out with friends, you can jump to Jimjams Karaoke Bar in Tiano Street, Dad’s Soundbox Karaoke in Chavez Street, M2 Family KTV Bar in Limketkai Center and Loreto’s in Tomas Saco Street.
For young professionals, The Site could be your taste of a gimmick hub. Candy’s and Bo’s Café, Eleven 50, Picasso at Dynasty Court Hotel, Pulse and Club Mojo are other spots where people flocked to on weekends as well. If you just want to play billiards, you can tag your friends along with you to Ralph’s Sports Bar above Club Mojo or Diamond Tip. Endless laughter is the ball game at Thrives Comedy and Sing-along Bar, so be ready to laugh out loud. To business executives, fun can be savored at Mindy’s CDO, Zax’s Retro-Bar, Terrazo and Leo’s Restaurant-Café.
While the majority unwinds at luxury bars until 3:00 in the morning on weekends (or midnight on weekdays), the younger crowd prefers to chill at some gas stations that offer outdoor seating. One popular spot is the Caltez Gas Station in Gusa, where most drag racers flock.
As foreign investors come in and out of Cagayan de Oro, more establishments are built. This only means that nightlife won’t stop from humming and gathering party people worldwide.
