Lahore Sights and Landmarks Guide, Pakistan

Lahore is the capital of Punjab and the second largest city of Pakistan. Its central position has earned it the name of ‘The Heart of Pakistan’, while being a city of gardens has given it the reputation of the ‘Green City’. The city has a population of more than six and a half million and an area of 461 acres, built in the form of a parallelogram. It is also the centre of the film industry and a city of poets and artists.

The two main seasons here are winter and summer while monsoons peak in July and August. The driest months are in the months of October and November with winter rains between December to February.

Lahore is famous as an entertainment hub

Lahore is often referred to as the ‘Paris of the East’ for its beautiful architecture and beauty. This is a city that is full of life, and doesn’t seem to sleep at all with the many activities taking place here all the time. Lahore is also the home of the entertainment industry where you find lots of pomp and jubilations taking place most of the time.

The major sightseeing places here include the Lahore Fort, Lahore Museum, Badshai Mosque and Anarkali Bazar. The Lahore museum is an architectural beauty as it is built in Gothic style, and though it was opened in 1894, is still the best museum in Pakistan housing a wonderful collection depicting the rich culture of the city.

Enjoy going shopping in the city

A shopper is sure to love a visit to Lahore, for its traditional bazaars and markets. Anarkali is considered to be the most famous of the traditional markets and bazaars found here, which offers lots of things and souvenirs for you to buy when you return home.

When in Lahore, don’t forget to visit the 60 meter tall Minar-e-Pakistan found in the middle of the Iqbal park of Lahore. The Tomb of Noor Jahan, Tomb of Jahangir and Badshahi Mosque are all magnificent structures and worth visiting while in the city. The beautiful Badshahi Mosque has been the masterpiece of Shalimar Garden since the Mughal civilization.

It was in 1637 that Shah Jahan had commissioned the garden, which contains a fort and beautiful and mesmerizing marble palaces. So taking a look at all this, you are sure to say that you will have a wonderful time visiting the sights of Lahore.
