Oslo Travel Guide, Norway

Norway, for centuries being known as the “land of the Midnight Sun”, is a kingdom located in the west of the Scandinavian Peninsula with Oslo as its capital city. Oslo is not only its capital but also the largest city in the kingdom of Norway. This beautiful and historic city of Oslo is also a county as well as a municipality being the third largest city in Scandinavia after Stockholm and Copenhagen. Besides this, Oslo counts for being the third largest metropolitan region in the kingdom after Stockholm and Copenhagen.   

The exceptionally beautiful city of Oslo is located at the bottom of a huge forest, among the hills and pine woods rising like an amphitheatre and giving the place a lovely natural splendor.  This city has an enthralling Viking past while being a progressive and modern city with the most exciting and vibrant nightlife, bars, restaurants and cafes; all at once.

The seaport has been built upon the River Aker on the top of Oslo Fjord that is open during the winters because of the ice breakers.

Oslo is renowned for its beautiful architecture and has to its fold wonderful monuments such as Akershus Castle and a great Viking museum.
