Coahuila History, Mexico
It was some twelve thousand years ago when various Nomadic Hunters entered the land on which today the city of Coahuila is situated. Various proofs by different archeologists show that this hunter tribe which firstly entered in this land was responsible for starting agriculture and they were the ones who seriously took part in fishing too for their food. They were the ones who utilized various caves present around as their homes. It was the presence of this tribe which attracted many other tribes into this land on which today the state of Coahuila is located. Some of these tribes were Coahuiltecos, Huauchichiles, Rayados, Irritilas, and Tobosos. All these tribes were peace loving and hence all of them lived happily in the presence of the other without any problems.
The Spanish were really very excited when they entered this land due to its peaceful atmosphere. Hence they happily started to rule the land and controlled the region from the year 1550 to the year 1580. They named the land as New Extremadura which was inspired from a region located somewhere in Spain. The name was later changed to Coahuila. The huge chunk of the population died down after many diseases and lack of amenities. This is when the Spanish rulers brought in Tlaxaltec Indian tribes to this land so that the population can start to grow and they could get some man power to work on their orders.
The current American state of Texas was part of Coahuila till the year 1824 but declared its independence from the clutches of Mexico by the year 1835. Since then many times multiple wars were fought between the forces of Texas and Mexico. As the army of Texas wasn’t that huge hence they used to lose the wars regularly and again become part of Mexico. Somehow they would again become independence to lose against Mexico in forthcoming wars. It was the year 1846 when United States of America finally occupied the country of Mexico. This is what led to the famous American - Mexican War. It was the treaty signed in year 1848 which finally stopped this war.
The state of Coahuila has witnessed many wars and fights but this never halted its development. Today it is one of the fastest growing states on this planet and boasts of many cities which any tourist would love to visit.
