The happening resort town of Mazatlán has grown immensely in last couple of years in terms of economy as well as tourism industry. The city of Mazatlán is famous for the old cultural atmosphere which will give you the chance to take some time out of the busy life which many other metro type cities of Mexico offer. Many times the city of Mazatlán has also been tagged as the Pacific Pearl due to its location and natural beauty. The city of Mazatlán is located somewhere on the southern side of Baja California and the meeting point of Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez is located in the proximity of Mazatlán.
As per the census of year 2005 the population for the city of Mazatlán was around 350000 inhabitants while the population for the municipality of Mazatlán was around 404000 inhabitants. The city of Mazatlán is located somewhere in the state of Sinaloa and happens to be the second largest city in terms of population when compared to all other cities of Sinaloa. The municipality for the city of Mazatlán stretches over an area of around 3100 kilometer square. This huge municipality includes many small communities which are situated in the proximity of Mazatlán. Some of these communities are El Quelite, La Noria, El Habal, Villa Union, and some tiny village too.
The locals as well as the tourists who hit the city of Mazatlán use Gral. Rafael Buelna International Airport (which is also famous by the name of Mazatlán International Airport) so as to travel to other neighboring cities of Mexico as well as to travel to the nearby foreign cities. This huge airport connects the city of Mazatlán to some famous cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Denver, Phoenix, Mexico City, Minneapolis, La Paz, San Jose del Cabo, Tijuana, Guadalajara, and Puerto Vallarta. Other then air transport the city of Mazatlán has also been gifted by a complex network of bus lines that connect the city to many cities of United States. The city also has a unique ferry service which connects it to La Paz.
The city of Mazatlán has become the second largest port when compared to all other ports in the country of Mexico and this has helped its economy immensely.
