Luxembourg’s Bustling Nightlife
Like most European countries, Luxembourg’s nightlife goes on into the wee small hours. Whether you are interested in fine eating, clubbing, or just relaxing with a drink, Luxembourg can offer whatever you want.
The nightlife in Luxembourg’s clubs is varied, but it changes frequently. However, the tourist office on Place Guillame II will guide you in the right direction. While there it is also a good idea to pick up a copy of La Semaine a Luxembourg (The Week in Luxembourg) which lists all the events of significance that are happening in the next seven days.
Luxembourg’s Club Life
Melusina, situated on the Rue de la Tour Jacob 145 is a popular club for Luxembourg’s young people. It provides a selection of live rock and jazz bands, with DJ performances in the separate Ultra Lounge. Opening hours are Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 3am. Melusina also boasts a restaurant is also open from Monday to Saturday.
The Pulp Club is the place to hear disco, R&B, hip-hop, house, and salsa, and all of these music genres are popular in Luxembourg. It is situated on the Boulevard d’Avranches 36, and has three separate spin-rooms. Open Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 11pm to 3am, this club has a sushi restaurant, Humphrey’s, which is open Monday to Thursday 9pm to 1am.
Luxembourg caters for all types of music and for Latin music and dance Cuba Libre is the place to be. Situated on Place des Bains 5 its opening hours are Monday through Thursday, 9pm to 1am, and Friday and Saturday till 3am.
Luxembourg’s Bars
•Un Piguet, on Rue de la Poste 30 is an Old City bar and comes highly recommended by both Luxembourgish and visitors.
•Club 5, Rue Chimay 5 is a more modern bar with a young clientele.
•Scott’s, Bisserwee 4 serves a mostly Irish and British expatriate but it is also visited by many Luxembourgish who like to sample the Guiness and English ale.
•Trader’s Café, Bisserwee 9 is an old-style pub that is very popular among locals of Luxembourg and tourists alike.
•Pygmalion on Rue de la Tour Jacob 19 is, as the title might suggest from its reference to James Joyce’s famous work, a traditional Irish pub. While this pub is very popular with expatriates it is also highly recommended by Luxembourg locals.
Visiting Luxembourg
Luxembourg is a country of contrasts. Its ancient history and classical buildings mingle with modern structures and trendy architecture. This contrast is as common in Luxembourg’s nightlife as it is in everyday living.
