Tehran Sights and Landmarks Guide, Iran
In terms of beautiful sights and scenery, Tehran is one city that is probably on the Top 5 in the Middle East in terms of interesting destinations. Owing to its culture and heritage, to its unique blend of races and the almost untouched natural beauty, when in Tehran, one is taken into a ride of splendor and adventure.
For example, you may choose to ski on your way to the snow-capped mountains perfect for the ski adventure you long for. Another choice for skiers is a Dizin ski resort. For the nature lovers, the Jamshidieh Park located in the Niavaran district at the base of the Kolakchal Mountain, is one of, if not the most picturesque and beautiful parks in Tehran. Another incredible destination is the Mellat Park in Valiasr Street – one of the largest recreation parks in the whole of Middle East or the Niavaran Park, which is Tehran’s famous and most pleasant public city park.
Apart from these natural wonders, a visitor or a local can head Treasury of Natural Jewels. For a certain fee you pay at the entrance, everyone can drool over the gems displayed, including the world's largest uncut ruby, the world's largest pink diamond known as the Sea of Light and a free standing golden globe made from 34 kilograms of gold and an astounding 51,366 precious stones – truly a testament to the riches of this part of the Middle East. On the other hand, the National Museum of Iran offers a rare opportunity to view some artifacts, stone figures, carvings and relics that date back as far as the 5th century BC. Of course, the Mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini – a famed ruler – takes a day to go shopping and strolling because of its enormous size. The mausoleum is inside the shopping center where the entrance is free.
For the ore urban taste, the A1one Graffiti is the place to be. The famous artist A1one has strategically displayed his works of art in the form of graffiti and street artworks in the Tehran Urban Space. Some of his other works are also found in the Tehran-Karaj Expressway, on the southern sidewalls UP in Ekbatan and Apadana and as of recent, on the entrance of the Saba Art Institute. For a more touch of history, the former US Embassy now renamed, the US Den of Espionage in Taleghani Street is a glimpse of what is left of the venue of hostage of over 66 US personnel for over a year and where several anti-US depictions in the form of paintings and vandals can be found.
There are several themed museums in Iran for the innately curious and for those who are in the city for the fun of it. These are testaments to the Iranian heritage and culture and also, the perfect destinations for anyone in Tehran.
