The city of Semarang is situated on the northern coast of Java within the country of Indonesia. Semarang is also the capital city for Central Java Province (also famous by the name of Provinsi Jawa Tengah in the local Indonesian language).

The huge city of Semarang has been divided into many districts and sub - districts so as to make the administration of the city easier for the officials. There are around sixteen districts (known as kecamatan in local language) and almost 177 sub - districts (known as kelurahan in local language) into which the city of Semarang has been divided. The city of Semarang was governed by the so called bupati (called as regent in local language) till the year 1906 and later on after the year 1906 the administration system of Semarang was changed and hence the head of the city became a Mayor (called as Walikota in local language).

The culture of Semarang has huge touch from the Chinese culture due to the heave Chinese population present in the city. Although this does not mean that the city of Semarang does not has local population. Javanese as well Indonesian are the most common community in the city of Semarang. Similarly the language of Semarang is mostly Javanese and the famous Indonesian.

The local cuisine for the city of Semarang is very famous amongst the locals as well as the foreign tourists. Bandeng Presto is the most famous local cuisine for the city of Semarang. It is actually milkfish cooked under high pressure. As the city of Semarang is a port city hence fish is easily available in the city. Another famous cuisine of Semarang is Lumpia which is actually local form of pastries. They are something similar to what spring rolls are.

Quality of education for those who want to learn is also great in the city of Semarang. Diponegoro University is famous at the national level and attracts many students from the rest of the country. The national private school in the city of Semarang is also famous at the national level. This school has facilities for kids of initial classes and also for the kids of senior high school. As indicated before there is a huge population of Chinese students in these educational institutes.
