Kanpur happens to be the largest city of Uttar Pradesh (largest state of India) and it is the fifth largest when it comes to area on which the city is situated.
Kanpur has played major role in Indian Independence and in medieval history. The proofs of both are present in the famous museum of Kanpur which is officially known as Kanpur Sangrahlaya. This museum is located on a monument of British period right in Phool Bagh Maidan (Field). This field is the hot spot for various politicians whenever they want to express their views to the public which is actually right before the elections are to start. The museum contains historical proofs from the Vedic age to the Revolt of 1857. In the same monument the very famous library of Kanpur is also housed. This library has a huge collection of manuscripts which relate the contribution of Kanpur to historical era. Hence the Phool Bagh Maidan becomes an important place for those tourists who are about to visit Kanpur
Bithoor, the famous place for Hindu pilgrims, is located around 20 kilometers from the heart of the city and is another famous tourist spot in Kanpur. It is famous for the old monuments and the bank of Ganga River on which it is situated.
Slowly modernization has started to hit Kanpur and many shopping malls have hit the city in last couple of years. The first official mall of the city was Rave 3 which is still the hot spot for many locals even though another shopping mall named Rave Moti has also opened up near it. Rave 3 and Rave Moti both have three theaters in them which become the major reason why locals regularly visit these malls.
